I am a full blooded Navajo born and raised two miles from Pinedale Trading Post in New Mexico. I went to school before I was old enough just so I can play with crayons. My mother was very skilled with working with clay. Whenever it rained, she would scoop up mud and make a figure for me. She would say, "Let's get him a fast horse." I developed slowly as an artist. I painted whenever I had the chance. My subjects have always been my people, from days long ago... They come to me in dreams - each person shows me the colors of their life, their rainbow. I try to capture it with my brush and paints, to appease their spirits, to keep them coming back. In life, my people are about design and color. No wonder - they live in the desert where imagination runs wild with color... now and then someone might say there is nothing out there in the desert... just look at my paintings and you will see something, something from the past, something that is alive with color and beauty today, These people of my dreams will live forever on my canvas... maybe one day I too will appear in someone's dream and bring all my colors...
Thank you.
